What to do in the first 60 minutes

Damage compounds quickly. Water wicks into drywall and subfloor within hours; mould can begin within 24 to 48; soot becomes acidic and etches finishes in days. A few careful actions before we arrive can save weeks of reconstruction.

Do this

  • Shut off the water at the main valve if the source is plumbing.
  • Cut power to the affected area at the breaker — only if the panel is dry and safe to reach.
  • Photograph and video everything before you move a single item.
  • Lift or foil-block furniture legs off wet carpet to stop staining.
  • Move documents, electronics and irreplaceable items to a dry room.
  • Call your insurer or broker to open the claim — then call us, or call us first and we will help you frame it.

Do not do this

  • Do not walk into standing water near panels, outlets or submerged cords.
  • Do not use a household vacuum to remove water.
  • Do not turn on ceiling fixtures if the ceiling above is wet or sagging.
  • Do not disturb suspected mould or soot — it spreads spores and particulate.
  • Do not throw damaged materials away before they are documented.
  • Do not re-enter a fire-damaged structure until it has been cleared as safe.

Water damage restoration by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Water Damage Restoration

Burst supply lines, failed water heaters, dishwasher and washing-machine floods, roof and window leaks. We extract standing water, remove unsalvageable materials, and set a monitored drying plan with air movers and commercial dehumidifiers until moisture readings confirm the structure is genuinely dry — not just dry on the surface.

  • Truck-mounted extraction & structural drying
  • Daily moisture logging for your claim
Basement flood cleanup by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Basement Flood Cleanup

Heavy rain, spring melt, storm-sewer surcharge or a failed sump pump. We pump out the water, clean and sanitise the space, dry the slab and framing, and then show you exactly why it happened — because Tricon Ontario Inc. is also a waterproofing contractor, the permanent fix is quoted by the same team.

  • Pumping, sanitising & deodorising
  • Waterproofing repair quoted on the spot
Fire and smoke damage restoration by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Fire & Smoke Damage

Once the fire is out the damage keeps going: soot is acidic, smoke odour migrates into every porous surface, and firefighting water starts its own clock. We secure the structure, remove soot and char, clean and deodorise contents and surfaces, and rebuild what has to be replaced.

  • Soot removal & thermal deodorisation
  • Structural cleaning & full reconstruction
Storm and wind damage response by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Storm & Wind Damage

Ontario storms take shingles, membrane, flashing, fascia, fences and trees — often all in one night. We get to the property fast, tarp and secure openings before the next band of rain arrives, clear debris, and then repair or replace the damaged assemblies properly.

  • Emergency tarping & debris removal
  • Permanent roof, siding & fence repair
Mould remediation by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Mould Remediation

Mould needs moisture, and moisture always has a source. We contain the affected area under negative pressure, remove contaminated material safely, treat and clean the cavity, then fix the leak, condensation or drainage problem that fed it — so it does not quietly come back behind new drywall.

  • Containment & HEPA-filtered removal
  • Root-cause repair, not just cleanup
Leak and frozen pipe detection by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Leak & Frozen Pipe Detection

A stain on a ceiling is rarely above the leak. Using moisture meters and thermal imaging we trace water back to its actual source — pinhole supply leaks, failed seals, ice damming or a frozen line about to split — and open only what has to be opened.

  • Thermal imaging & moisture mapping
  • Frozen pipe thawing & burst prevention
Emergency roof repair and tarping by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Emergency Roof Repair & Tarping

An open roof turns one bad night into a gutted interior. Our roofing crews — the same ones who install commercial flat roof systems every week — tarp, patch and make watertight, then quote the permanent repair or replacement with no middleman.

  • Flat & sloped roof emergency work
  • Ice dam removal & leak sealing
Emergency board-up and temporary fencing by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Board-Up & Temporary Fencing

After a fire, break-in, vehicle impact or storm, an open building is a liability. We board windows and doors, close wall and roof openings, and install temporary fencing to keep the site secure while the claim is settled and the rebuild is scheduled.

  • Secure board-up of any opening
  • Temporary fencing from our own fence shop
Sewage backup cleanup by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Sewage Backup Cleanup

Sewage backup is a health hazard, not a mess. Crews work in protective equipment, remove contaminated water and porous materials, disinfect every affected surface, and confirm the space is clean and dry before anything is rebuilt.

  • Contaminated water removal & disposal
  • Full disinfection & odour control
Odour control and air quality work by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Odour Control & Air Quality

Smoke, damp and sewage odours live in materials, cavities and ductwork long after the visible damage is gone. We use HEPA air scrubbing, source removal, sealing and thermal deodorisation, and can arrange independent air quality testing so the result is verified, not assumed.

  • HEPA air scrubbing & deodorisation
  • Independent air quality testing arranged
Temporary power and heat supplied by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Temporary Power & Heat

Drying equipment needs power and winter work needs heat. When the building's services are down or overloaded, we arrange temporary power and heating so mitigation starts immediately instead of waiting on a utility appointment.

  • Generators & temporary distribution
  • Winter heating for drying & freeze protection
Winter and ice emergency response by Tricon Ontario Inc.

Winter & Ice Emergencies

Ice dams, frozen and split lines, snow load on flat roofs and freeze-thaw cracking are Ontario's seasonal specialty. We respond through the winter with safe ice removal, thawing, drainage clearing and structural checks before the melt does the real damage.

  • Frozen line thawing & leak repair

Our emergency process

From the call
to the final walkthrough

Emergency work goes wrong when it is handed between companies. Tricon Ontario Inc. keeps the whole chain — mitigation, remediation and reconstruction — under one estimator, one schedule and one warranty.

  1. Live call & immediate dispatch

A person answers and takes the details that matter: address and access, the source of the damage, whether power and gas are on, how much area is affected, and whether anyone is hurt. The nearest available crew is assigned while you are still on the line, and you get a name and a realistic ETA.

  2. Site assessment & make safe

On arrival we identify hazards, isolate the source, and stop the loss — extraction, tarping, board-up, containment. Before anything is moved we photograph, measure and record moisture readings so the record of the loss is complete from the beginning.

  3. Scope, estimate & insurer contact

You receive a written scope of work and estimate, and with your authorisation we deal directly with your insurer or broker. Emergency mitigation usually proceeds under the policy's mitigation allowance while the larger claim is adjusted, so drying never waits on paperwork.

  4. Drying, cleaning & remediation

Equipment is sized to the loss and monitored daily. Contaminated or unsalvageable material is removed under containment, surfaces are cleaned and deodorised, and readings are logged until the structure meets dry standard — then the equipment comes out, not before.

  5. Reconstruction by our own trades

Drywall, flooring, roofing, waterproofing, aluminum, fencing and hardscape are completed by Tricon Ontario Inc. crews. The same estimator who scoped the emergency signs off the rebuild.

  6. Final walkthrough & prevention plan

We walk the property with you, hand over the documentation package, and give you a plain-language plan for preventing a repeat — the waterproofing repair, the roof detail, the drainage fix or the maintenance interval that actually addresses the cause.

Insurance support

We speak adjuster

Most Ontario property policies cover sudden and accidental damage — a burst pipe, a fire, storm damage — and most include an allowance for emergency mitigation so the drying can start before the claim is fully adjusted. What slows claims down is not coverage. It is documentation.

From the first hour on site, Tricon Ontario Inc. records what an adjuster needs to approve the work: dated photographs, moisture readings by room and material, equipment placement, a written scope, and line-item pricing that matches industry standards.

  • Direct communication with your insurer or broker, with your authorisation
  • Daily drying logs and photo records supplied with the claim
  • Written, itemised scope of work — no vague allowances
  • Emergency mitigation started immediately, adjusted afterwards
  • Honest advice when a loss is below your deductible

Coverage varies by policy and insurer. Tricon Ontario Inc. documents and advocates for your claim, but the coverage decision is always your insurer's.

Emergency FAQ

We dispatch from Concord (Vaughan) and Hamilton and target on-site arrival within one hour anywhere in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area. Actual travel time depends on distance, weather and traffic — you are given a realistic ETA on the call, not a marketing number.
Yes. +1 833-874-2661 is answered by a person 24 hours a day, every day of the year, including holidays. During an active emergency you will never be sent to a voicemail box.
Most Ontario property policies cover sudden and accidental damage such as burst pipes, fire and storm damage, and many include an emergency mitigation allowance so work can begin before the claim is fully adjusted. Coverage always depends on your specific policy — we document everything from hour one and work directly with your insurer or broker so nothing is missed.
Most residential water losses dry in three to five days with correctly sized air movers and dehumidifiers. Dense assemblies — concrete, hardwood, double drywall, insulation in exterior walls — can take longer. We take moisture readings daily and only pull equipment when the readings confirm the structure is dry.
Usually not. Most water losses are contained to part of a building and the space stays occupied while equipment runs. Fire losses, sewage contamination and large mould remediation projects may require temporary relocation for health and safety — if that is the case we tell you early and honestly, not halfway through.
Yes — and this is the main reason people call us. Tricon Ontario Inc. has been a full construction and restoration contractor since 2003, so once the property is dry and clean, our own roofing, waterproofing, aluminum, fencing, concrete and carpentry crews complete the repairs. No handing your project to a stranger halfway through.
The emergency assessment is free. Mitigation work is priced from a written scope using industry-standard line items, and in insured losses it is usually billed through your claim. You will always know what is being done and what it costs before it is done.
Yes. A large share of our work is commercial, industrial and multi-residential — including flat roof emergencies, common-element water losses, parking-structure leaks and building envelope failures. We are used to working around tenants, security requirements and after-hours access.

Every hour multiplies the damage

Call Tricon Ontario Inc. now. A crew is assigned before you hang up, and the documentation your insurer will want starts the moment we arrive.
